Tourist Information about El Calafate and Ushuaia
The Perito Moreno Glacier, at 85 kilometres´distance from the little town of Calafate, is one of the most important attractions of country. Thousands of tourists visit the glacier every year. In 1981, UNESCO declared it World Heritage.
The Eighth wonder of the World: Because of its magnificent view, the Perito Moreno Glacier is considered the eighth wonder of the world. The imposing mass of interminable ice surrounded by forests and mountains is a spectacle that nobody wants to miss. Personally, I recommend you the glacier – trekking excursion, in which you will be able to walk on the ancient glacier, accompanied by a professional tour guide with all the necessary equipment.
Ushuaia is the most austral city of the world: located in the "Tierra del Fuego"
island on the margin of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by natural forests, lakes and mountains with eternal snows. It is the front door to the mysterious Antarctic world. A few kilometers away from the city you can visit the "Tierra del Fuego" National Park and visit the Lapataia Bay.
You cannot miss going to the End of the World Museum (with a great historical-cultural collection), the Ex- Military Prison (where the Marine Museum works), and the End of the Word. Also, a tour to Escondido Lake, surrounded by an astonishing natural scenery, and the sailing to End of the World Lighthouse (famous for Julio Verne´s book), are worthy. These tours will give you the chance to see a
varied animal life, such as penguins, sea lions, etc.
